Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Review
Nikon has finally come out with Z6 and Z7, its Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras.
Nikon has first entered into the mirrorless cameras with its Nikon 1 can compact camera which was a failure.
Since the launch of Nikon 1, Nikon engineers working on a Full Frame Compact Mirrorless Camera and finally after hard work they have come out with Nikon Z6 and z7 Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras.
And these two cameras Nikon Z7 and Z6 are worth the time Nikon took to launch these.
Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6 Short Overview
Nikon Z7 is aimed at the Professionals who want the stunning image quality whereas Nikon Z6 is aimed at the Photography Enthusiast who don't want the Pixel Perfect quality.
Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras are the first Z-Mount cameras and earlier the Nikon cameras are running on F- Mount.
keeping the fact in mind that there are millions of Nikon shooters with F-Mount lenses, Nikon has come up with Z-Mount adaptor which can work with any F-Mount camera or the lenses.
Nikon has also launched 24 MP Nikon Z6 and the 24-70mm f/4.35 MM F/1.8 and 50mm f/1.8 Z-mount lenses with these cameras.
Nikon Z-6 and Z-7 cameras do have the Electronic Viewfinder, Superb Design, Amazing Image quality with EXPEED-6 Technology and Great 4K Video Recording features like Slow motion, and time lapses.
These are also Weatherproof and has a great High ISO Performance.
Nikon Z6 and z7 cameras do have in-body Image-Stabilization feature which is great for Shake-free images which were missing in most DSLR cameras like Nikon D 850 or 750.
Some users have reported some initial bugs in the viewfinder like unable to hide image details in the LCD screen while shooting.
But I think Nikon would soon fix this with the Firmware upgrade.
One more performance bug is the Continuous-Focus System in Nikon Z-7 is that it does not work properly for the Live moving subjects however it works just fine for the still subjects.
So, this is the one area where Nikon Z-7 or Nikon Z-6 Mirrorless full Frame Camera lack compared to the Full Frame DSLR cameras where the Continuous-Autofocus System works great even for the live moving subjects.
Nikon Z-6 and Z-7 are now available in most of the European countries and also available India.

Nikon Z7 and Z6 Cameras Detailed Analysis
Nikon Z7 Sensor
Nikon z7 camera has a large sensor of 45.7 megapixels and is fully capable of shooting in the RAW format in 8256 x 5504 Resolution.
Continuous Shooting Speed-9 FPS (only 12-bit RAW, no AE), 8 FPS (14-bit RAW, no AE), 5.5 FPS (14-bit RAW and AE)
It has 493 Auto Focus Points which is huge and must for compositing images in any scene.
Nikon Z-7 camera is very lightweight and compact camera with only 585-gram Body weight.
this is quite useful for those who don't want to carry the heavy and bulky DSLR cameras.

Wi-Fi Feature
It has inbuilt Wi-Fi but the important feature which is missed by many Landscape Photographers is the absence of GPS in it, which is a crucial feature for Landscape Photographers to record the GPS coordinates of the locations they are shooting.
Nikon Z6 Camera Sensor
Whereas the Nikon Z6 camera has 24.7- Megapixel Sensor capable of shooting images in 6000 x 4000 Resolution
Continuous Shooting Speed-12 FPS (limited to 12-bit RAW and no AE), 9 FPS (14-bit RAW but no AE), 5.5 FPS with AE
It has 273 Auto Focus Points which is around half than the Z-7 and must for compositing images in any scene.

Nikon Z7 and Z6 Single Memory Card Slot
Both the Nikon Z6 and z7 cameras have a single memory card slot and XQD memory card, the reason for this was to keep the camera compact.
Though these days modern DSLR do have a double memory card slot since Nikon wanted to make this camera as compact as possible so, they decided to to go for one Memory Card slot.
Nikon is also claiming that XQD memory card is more stable than the normal SD cards that is also the reason why they decided to go for only one memory card slot.
Tiltable LCD Screen
Nikon Z-series cameras have a 3.2″ Tiltable LCD Touchscreen which is very bright, and detailed, it has around 2.1 million dots.
The Tiltable LCD Screen is very helpful for composing Low Angle Shots or the High Angle Shots.
The Tiltable LCD screen is also helpful for taking Selfies for Blogging so all the YouTubers out there or the Bloggers can take advantage of this Tiltable LCD screen.
Unlike other electronic view-finder the Nikon Z- series cameras have a very close to reality electronic viewfinder which helps you to see and Compose the Scene clearly.
After producing one of the best viewfinders in Nikon D 850 DSLR camera, the Nikon has worked very hard to make the Best Electronic Viewfinder in the Nikon Z Series Cameras.

Like Nikon D 850 DSLR camera, Nikon Z series cameras also have Silent Shutter release option which helps you to take the shorts silently.
Nikon cameras also have Intervalometer which helps you to take interval shots which are necessary for the Time-Lapse Photography or the Hyperlapse Photography.
Video Recording Feature
With Nikon Z7 you can record videos in 4K at 30 FPS (Frames Per Second) and full HD Videos 1080 at 120 FPS.
If you are a big fan of silky smooth Slow-Motion video footage then you would love Nikon Z-7 as it allows you to shoot up to 120 FPS in full HD 1080.
For silky smooth Slow Motion video footage you need to have at least 60 FPS but here you are getting 120 FPS which is double so you can take amazing slow-motion video footage with Nikon Z series camera.
However, Nikon Z series cameras lack the feature of recording in higher frame per second for FPS for 4K resolution.
Nikon has also misled in its Advertisement about the 8k Time Lapse shooting capability which is not possible to do with the camera body rather it can be done through third-party software.
Battery Life
Since Nikon Z series cameras to have the electronic viewfinder it is expected that you will get less performance with the battery life.
Nikon has claimed that if you are using LCD screen to shoot then you would be able to get up to 400 images in one single charge of the battery.
But if you would use it carefully with viewfinder then and you might get up to 800 shots in a single charge.
As mentioned earlier if you want to use your old at Mount lenses with Nikon Z- series cameras then you need to have an FTZ Lens mount adaptor, which is an extra cost added to your overall budget.
One of the main great features of the Nikon Z-Series cameras is Focus tracking or Focus-Stacking which is very helpful for macro and Landscape Photography.
This feature allows the camera to take multiple shots of the scene using different focus points which would help you to later merge these images into one 1 highly Sharp image with amazing depth of field.
For this purpose, you need to use Photoshop or any other software which allows you to Focus Stack different multiple images.
For example, while doing macro photography the focus area is so small that users cannot get away with that image so in order to have the larger area in focus, you need to use the technique called focus stacking.
Where we have multiple shots of different areas in focus and later on in the post-production, we combine all these shots into one shot where the larger area is now in focus.
Earlier it was a manual task to take multiple shots of different areas in focus but now with Nikon Z-Series Cameras, you can do this automatically.

I have a photo studio. I have purchased Z6 last week. I am not able to use it as when set it in Manual mode with f11 at 125 shutter speed the viewfinder and monitor become dark. Are mirrorless cameras of Nikon not useful in Studios?

This is quite strange to hear that viewfinder and monitor turn black. I think this is a bug which would be fixed in next firmware update. There is no such thing as these cannot be used in Studios. These are built for every day and any shoot. As mention in the post above some users have also reported LCD bug in Nikon Z7. I hope this would be fixed soon. Have you tried to contact the support?
