In this post, I am going to show you how you can take amazing shots with a simple Cheap setup.
I am using very basic equipment to do the Stock Photography shoot.
The gears I used in this Stock Photography Shoot are: –
- Nikon D-5100 Camera
- Nikkor 35 mm Prime Lens
- Simpex Speedlight or External Flash
Today, you will learn how you can take Amazing Professional Images with even low Budget Affordable equipment.
You don’t need high-end equipment like Full frame DSLR or Softbox or Strobe Lights to create stunning images.
All you need to know is how to use whatever you have properly.
And in this post, you will learn exactly the same.
I am sure after you read this Post and follow the steps which I have explained here you will be able to take amazing Professional images with whatever you have.
Sometimes we need to be resourceful rather than finding excuses that we don’t have this or we don’t have that.
In this post, I will explain how I used the aforementioned basic equipment to do this indoor shoot for stock photography sites.
If you don’t know what is stock photography then let me tell you these are some site where you can sell your images.

Actually, the theme for this shoot was the Education.
So, I want to capture some lifestyle cum Education shots of my children.
That is why I decided to shoot in my bedroom.
And to be honest I did not plan this shoot as it was impromptu shoot so I did not pay much attention to properly set the things in the room but I did move few things like pillow and bedsheet away during the shoot as I paid attention to the things which were distracting in the photos.
Photography Tips-1: – Always plan out your shoot beforehand.
Photography Tips-2: – Do take a look at your scene and remove distracting elements before you start shooting.
I put my Nikkor 35 mm lens on D-5100 camera which is the basic entry-level camera which I think no longer available as higher models like D-5300 or D-5500 have been introduced by the Nikon.

Then I put the Simpex Speedlight which is an affordable and very effective Speedlight or External Flash which can be mounted on the top for your DSLR.
I am using this Simpex Speedlight for almost 4-5 years and I have never felt any problem with this one.
The quality of this is just amazing and it produces very bright light which can be controlled with the built-in-functions or through the camera settings.

Since I was shooting indoors, I decided to bounce it from the ceiling.
Because if you will aim the flash directly to the subject you will get very unprofessional results as it produced harsh light and shadow which is not flattering.
Photography Tips: -3 Always bounce the Flash or Speedlight from ceiling or walls for Soft diffused light.
You will notice that in most of my images, my son is without a shirt.
Reason for this was that since the T-shirt he was wearing was having some copyright logo.
And if you want to sell your images online on stock photography sites then you need to avoid copyrighted material like a logo or design as that would lead to copyright infringement.
Since I don’t want that logo in my shots as I would have to spend lots of time in post processing to remove that logo, I asked my son to remove his shirt.
Photography Tips: -4 Always pay attention to copyrighted material like Logo or Design and choose the simple generic design clothes for the shoot unless you are not planning to make some money out of those images.
The camera setting which I used: –
F-2.8
ISO 400
Shutter Speed 125
Shutter Release-Multiple/Continuous
Though the continuous mode does not work with the speed light as it would not work that fast because it takes a little while to recharge and ready to fire.
But I always keep this mode for shooting my children reason being children tend to move a lot and there is every chance that you will miss the shot and get the blurry pictures.
But if you chose the continuous shutter option which is mostly used for Action or Sports Photography you will get at least most of shot Tack Sharp as in this mode camera takes multiple shots in 1 second.
Photography Tip 5: – Choose Multiple/Continuous Shutter option for shooting children
You can see I have taken the shots with multiple angles but sometimes we forget to change the angle.
That way we miss lots of amazing shots.
If you are shooting especially for the stock photography then different angles of the same scene are must as that would increase your chances of the sale.
Because most of the buyers want to see the different angles of the same scene as per their need.
So, never forget to take the same shot with different angles that way you will get more out of the scene.
Photography Tips 6: – Don’t forget to try different angles.
You can see in these images, I have used this Laptop Table as a prop.
Using some props in the images can add some extra depth and interest to it.
Since this was an education theme and children are studying, this laptop table was added some extra realism in the shots.
Photography Tips 7: -Always use some Prop in the images for some Extra Depth and Interest.
I recently purchased this Laptop table recently and I must say this is very useful for many purposes.
I also use this table to work and my children also do their homework on this and you can see this was also used as a prop for the photo shoot.
This is a multi-purpose foldable table.
